Figaro and Camela
Apr. 7th, 2004 12:26 pmToday I had my second tutoring session. It was ridiculous. They didn't even pull a student for me today, so there were 3 of us tutors in there and only 2 students, and they totally knew what they were doing. And this time it was algebra, and compared to the geometry they made me try to do last week, it was like...blowing up a balloon and doing brain surgery. I couldn't even pretend to help anyone. So I sat next to this one girl named Alicia, who was just flying through the problems. Her tutor and I just basically sat there and worked on some problems ourselves cuz there was shit nothing else to do. Alicia poked her head up at one point and said "I'm on #32" and I said "I'm on #2. Where were you all through my high school math courses? I could have used you." That cracked her up, it made me feel really good.
When I was signing out, the supervisor thanked me for helping out, and I said "I didn't do ANYTHING" and she said "Yes you did, you gave her a lot of confidence. She was really bad at math last year, that must feel great that she's better at it than you are." Um, thanks?
I also went with Scott and Rachel and some guy named Nick to see the final dress rehearsal of The Marriage of Figaro so I could see Meredith as Carabino (sp?). She was EXCELLENT!!! I'd never heard her sing before, she has an AMAZING voice. She made such an adorable boy. And who can beat the image of Meredith fighting back an erection? **Priceless** The rest of the show was aight, I figured out opera's not really my cup of tea. But all of the singers were so talented, beautiful vocals all around. We also got to admire David in the Green Show, and Caitlin Scheib offered me melted Hot Tamales from her sticky palm.
Last night I dreamt I lived in a single room with my mom and two sisters, and we found a small orange kitten in a bag that we wanted to keep. My mom wasn't sure if there'd be enough space, but she eventually said yes. Then I found a tiny two-humped camel the same size as the kitten just wandering around the room, so I begged to keep it, too, cuz it was so cute and rare, and she let me. I think we named the camel Pamela.
I want a tiny camel.
